As promised for those who needed it, the tutorial on how I polka dotted my flower pots. :) Very simple and fun though I'm not sure how long the painting will last...you may have to repaint them every year or two but hey, that's the fun of it. Change the colors up.
Here's what we're making...
1. Gather up all your ugly pots, clay or plastic...anything that can be spray painted. To keep your hands and arms from being spray painted I pushed a piece of re-bar (or you could use a stick) into the ground and place the pot upside down on it. 2. Now spray paint away. I gave my pots 2-3 coats. Make sure to spray paint the lip of the pot and at least 6" into the pot.
3. For the dots I used the round brushes I picked up from Hobby Lobby. They are approx 1" across. To make a bigger dot brush I took a car wash sponge and used a sour cream lid to draw a circle on it then used a knife and scissors to cut the larger circle out of the sponge. 4. Take your sponge and dip it in the paint, twirling it a little to soak the paint in.
5&6. With a well loaded sponge, press it onto the pot and twirl the brush then pull up to make a clean circle. You have to give the dots two coats for a bright clean look.
7. before
8. after (the red pot needs another coat on the dots but you get the idea)
